Team Confidence
Training Plans
Are you having trouble providing consistent, high-quality training for new hires?
Turn Training Dread into Training Confidence
With user-friendly training plans
Training plans build upon work instructions, procedures and processes to help teams work more effectively. They bring continuity, consistency and certainty into the training process. The roles of each person involved in the training are clearly understood, along with the expected completion dates for each training task. This training confidence brings your new people up to speed faster. From day one, they will be impressed with your organization, and they (along with their trainers) will get an immediate morale boost. In fact, the benefits start during the interview process.
In my early days of interviewing technical candidates, they would soon see how complex the job was and would ask about training. For my first few hires, we had no training plan, and I spun the training as positively as I could. Phrases like, “the whole team is involved in helping you learn the job” and “you can reach out to any of us any time with questions,” got me through but didn’t inspire confidence. It was a much better experience for me and the candidate when I could answer, “we have a training plan, we follow it closely, adjust it as needed, and continually update it.”
The documentation of the training process requires a detailed exploration of tasks and provides many benefits, including:
- Clear map and schedule of training tasks
- Clear delineation of self-directed training vs. training from the team
- Better distribution of training tasks throughout the group
- Improved morale
- Better consistency in training from person to person
- Quick reference to training progress
- Training Confidence provides a better experience from start to finish.
